A New Must-Have Book (and a contest!)

I’m making this one short and sweet because it speaks for itself. Scott Kelby’s “The Digital Photography Book – Volume 2” has just come out. If it’s not on your must-have list yet, then it should be. Here’s 3 reasons why:

1. The Digital Photography Book Volume 1 was absolutely fantastic. It’s one of the few books I read each year that leave me wanting more. This one did, and Volume 2 is the “more”. It picks up with all the things I wanted to learn after Volume 1.

2. I already have a job – reading books ain’t one of them – and this book is a total pleasure to read. It’s got killer information packed into 1 page layouts that make it easy for me to feel like I’ve actually read and learned something.

3. Volume 1 of the book is still in the top 100 of ALL books on Amazon after 18 months. It’s got nearly 400 reviews (and almost every one is 5 stars). I don’t know about you but that’s enough for me to want volume 2 as well.

So go buy one. Now! I’m waiting. Just kiddin’ – here’s the link if you want to find out more. Now the contest. Edit: Note that the contest is over. See above post “We have a winner”. I’ll get a copy of the book signed by Scott and send it out to the winner. Just leave a comment to this post. All you have to do is say “Hi” or something like that but make sure you use your real email address (it won’t be published) so I can get in touch with you. I’ll randomly draw a name from the list on Friday afternoon and post it here. Good luck.

Now go to the next post of the Friday tip ‘o the week.

    Matt,

As a new Lightroom user (just installed it two nights ago) I have to give you credit in part for my decision to go in that direction (I’d also have to give Scott K. some props on that as well). The abundance and quality of the info you provide related directly to Lightroom told me that while I’m learning it and using it I’ll never be out there on my own wondering how to do something. I love your site and the tips are great … even for the new guy. I also have Scott’s first book and it is outstanding. I only keep a couple of books in my bag (paper takes up a lot of room) … my camera owner’s manual and Scott’s Digital Photography Volume 1. I’ll wait to see if I win before I go out and buy Volume 2.

    Regards,
    Dennis

    Hey Matt,

You rock, buddy! How is it that I always seem to buy books shortly before the next version comes out?! Oh well, vol. 1 was (and still is) awesome and has helped me a lot. Love your Lightroom tips (wouldn’t mind seeing a blog on tips for lifetime PC users switching over to Mac – I think I’m going to become a Mac user (P-T anyway) later this year).

Here’s a suggestion to pass on to Adobe – let dual-OS users have a copy of their products that they can install both on 1 PC and 1 Mac. So many of the plug-in companies offer their software for both platforms with a single purchase, why not Adobe?

    But I digress. 🙂

Thanks for all your hard work in helping us all get the most out of these programs!

    Hi Matt,
Here’s another German reader for you ;-).
I searched for Vol. 1 at Amazon.de directly after your posting, because I loved to read Scotts “Lightroom” book. Hopefully also Vol. 2 will be translated soon in German language.
    Have a wonderful weekend!

Vol.1 was great, just got Vol 2 in the mail today, but would still like to have an autographed copy. Thanks for all your tips!

    Hi Matt,

I really enjoy all your tips and videos, even have a special section in Lightroom for all your presets. You and Scott have really inspired me in my photography. Thanks for the contest and looking forward to another great year with Lightroom.

Hi Matt, I hope the legs are back to normal after the marathon. I gave 2 of the Vol. 2 books to friends as gifts. I need my own. Can I have your autograph instead? Max

    Hi Matt
Love your site here, it has been a huge help for me to get to know and use Lightroom better, really, really like the 300 preset. Keep it coming! I’ve worn out Scott’s Vol 1, can’t wait for Vol 2.

    Thank you so much
    Rob

I have ordered my copy of Scott’s book vol 2 – hopefully it arrives soon. Volume 1 was great, so I hope to learn a lot of new stuff with this new book.
