Lightroom’s September Update Is Here. Here’s What’s New

Adobe just dropped its September Lightroom updates, with new features and improvements across Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, and Lightroom on mobile.

Terry White has already jumped in and put together a great look at what’s new, so rather than me trying to explain it all here, I’m sharing his video below. Thanks, Terry, for getting us up to speed!

A few of the highlights include:

• Improved Reflection Removal in Lightroom and Lightroom Classic, with cleaner results and fewer smudges and ghosting artifacts.
• Prompt to Edit in Lightroom Desktop, an Early Access feature that lets you describe the edits you want to make using text prompts. Adobe says it can handle things like dust and scratch repair, color restoration, unblurring, sky replacement, and more.
• Faster masking selections in Lightroom Classic, with new Check All and Check None options for People and Landscape masks.
• Photo to Video/Animate (Mobile & Desktop), which lets you add motion to still photos and customize things like camera movement and speed.
• Open Eyes with Reference Photos (Mobile), which can use another photo of the same person as a reference to fix closed eyes.

There’s also expanded support for new cameras and lenses, along with the usual bug fixes and performance improvements.
