Lightroom Presets – Adding a Sunflare Effect
NOTE: Before you read this post or download presets (or leave a comment saying they don’t work), make sure you watch the video. These presets don’t install like most others do 🙂
There’s some pretty cool possibilities for creating presets with the Adjustment Brush in Lightroom. This week I have 3 presets that create a sunflare effect that you can brush on to your photos. It’s a little different from the normal Develop module presets, but I think there’s a lot of possibilities here for some create brushing in Lightroom.
First, make sure you watch the video below. It shows you how to install the presets since it’s a little different that normal and it also shows you an example of where you’d use them. Then, of course, you can download the presets by clicking on the link right here:
– Download Matt’s Sunflare Presets here.

Enjoy and let me know what you think. Thanks 🙂
Hey Matt ! All the presets downloads URL don’t work and I would love to test them!!
These tournaments are excessive enjoyable too they are
actual relaxed to drama too. – Keep a lots of space
handy with your hard disk drive, and maintain a backup system at all times.
During the American Derby, Domino had injured himself due to which his stayed
out with the Belmont Stakes along with Travers.
Same problem here. The link gives an error page.
me too! did anyone get a reply from Matt?
I got the same error 404 page when I clicked on link.
Hi Matt, When I click the link to download the preset I get ‘Page Not Found’ where can I download the preset? Great work by the way and thanks for sharing.
Hi there, I am trying to download the free Sunflare Preset for Lightroom 4 and when I click on the download link it says “Page not found.” Are these still available? Can you post the link here in a reply to my comment?
I’m having the same issue. Page Not Found. I watched the video, but it doesn’t address the Page Not Found error…?
Thank you! Your presets just bumped up my photography a bit. You have some that I wasn’t figuring out on my own. 🙂
Hi Matt!! it all worked perfectly, i had to think and try a few different times after watching video, but just letting you know it is up in LR5 for me! thankyou so much!:)
Thanks so much Matt… I have learned so much from your video!!
I watched the video twice and the presets are not working..The brush leaves a hot pink area and then whenI press done, it’s all blown out but not in a good way. Thanks anyway..:)
To the risk that this was already answered…
I watch the video, place the files on ‘Adobe\Lightroom\Local Adjustment Presets’ and close LR4 and opened again, but it’s not working.
Any help would be appreciated
Regards,
Rocke
Hi Matt, nice job with presets! But i have a problem too, i watched the video 5 times :), Windows, Lr 4, i go to edit>pref>show lr> go to the folder where presets are, double click them > windows is asking me about the program to use to open the file!
thx. Keep up the good work!
Hey Matt, I watched your video, and extracted the files and moved them exactly into the folder at preferences>presets>show lightroom presets folder>lightroom>local adjustment brushes folder….and I’m getting the same issue as everyone else. The files show up in my adjustment brushes area, but all the settings are set at 0, so when I paint over the image, nothing appears. When I tried to upload them the normal way, I got the error message. Not quite sure what’s up with that, or how to fix it.
Hi Matt, just upgraded t 4.2 (Windows) and this update no longer works. When I import it, I get the following error, “The preset file was the wrong type of preset.”
Other than that, all is well. Thank you for all the presets and everything you do!
Did you watch the video?
Hi there,
I installed it but just wanted to let you know that its not working. I think one other person had this problem as well
There are no adjustments on the presets everything is set to zero
Hello I am having the same issue as above.
thank you
I have as the same problem as above. I installed as per your instruction, but when i apply, there is no change to the photo, it luks just like a normal adjustment brush where you need to change the settings(exposure, brightness etc) by your own! I did not get any sunflare effect!! Please Help!!
I have the same PROBLEM as another person who commentet here:
I installed the presets — they appear in the drop down menu, but they do not make any adjustments to the settings—all three options, no setting changes.
Hey Matt, for me don’t work. I’m right clicking USER PRESETS…IMPORT…then select the Sunflare presets.
Watch the video above. You don’t put them in User Presets 🙂
Thank you so much for all the freebies and your generosity. You make our photography world gets better and better.
I especially love this sunflare set as it targets exactly at the sunflare spot in your picture.
However, i tried to download it a few times, all my downloaded zip files cannot be opened, giving me message that: “cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive” Could you please help?
Please ignore this message. I downloaded a good file directly from your website.
The video is just a black square for me.
Hmmm. Not sure Thomas. It’s a youtube video and I’ve checked it on multiple browsers.
Hello Matt! this presets doesn’t work for me 🙁 Sistem information: Windows 7 SP1, Lighroom 4.1
Help me, please)
Hey Matt, looking forward to these updated presets, however, when I try to import them Lightroom spits at me and says, “error importing “Sunflare – Light.lrtemplate. The preset file was the wrong type of preset.” Thank you.
Hey Jack. Watch the video. You’re putting them in the wrong place.
Mine is doing the same thing in LR4. I have sucessfully imported other presets of yours but the Sunflare will not work. I get the same error message.
I’m right clicking USER PRESETS…IMPORT…then select the Sunflare presets.
Watch the video in this post Kyle (above). It’s not the usual way of importing presets and you don’t go to User Presets to do it.
Ha! What an idiot I am! That’s what I get for updating too many presets at once. Not all presets are alike : ) Thanks Matt!
Article writing is also a fun, if you be acquainted with then you can write
otherwise it is difficult to write.
Hi. look great, but i have the big problem 🙁 I click on the presents and lightroom (4.1 64bit and win 7 64bit) crashes. other presets are ok. what is wrong ? Help me please. thank you very much

I just downloaded and installed the presets — they appear in the drop down menu, but they do not make any adjustments to the settings—all three options, no setting changes.
Perfect, thanks!!!!
Can I use it with lighroom 3.6? I got an error (similar to not supported…) Greetings
Adrian,
Pretty presets offered a similar preset free at one time. It was also for LR3.
Check their website to see if its still there for free.
Wow, thanks for such a brilliant preset Matt, this is just perfect for an e-shoot I did in low sunlight last night, works a treat, thank you, what would we do without you?
Thanks Matt. I am presently working on a few pictures where this would really suit nicely..I will test and share a picture here.
