Suggest A Lightroom Preset Day
I’m teaching my Lightroom seminar in Orlando today, so I’m bailing out on the blogginess for the day. That said, I thought I’d take your Lightroom preset ideas (I’m posting this here and on my Lightroom site too). I’m pretty close to being out of preset ideas for Lightroom. I’ve been making them for so long that I simply don’t have any ideas left. So I’m turning to you guys:
Things to consider when leaving an idea:
– Lightroom doesn’t have filters like Photoshop. So try to avoid saying that you’d like a preset that looks like the Clouds filter in Photoshop, because it simply can’t happen.
– Don’t forget to look back through my preset archives over on my Lightroom website. There’s a ton there already.
Cool! So let the floodgates open! I’m anxious to hear what you come up with.
Oh yeah, I’ve got several more Lightroom stops before the end of the year. I’ll be in Toronto in late November, Sacramento and San Diego in early December. You can find out more info right here.
Hey Matt,
Thanks for all these great presets. I’m looking for a Conference-Room-Magic-Present — it’s a challenging situation. Virtually all the conferences, galas, fundraisers and meetings I shoot are in a windowless, dimly lit hotel conference centers and heavy on the warm tones. I’m looking for the optimal present to make these photos taken at ISO 3200ish pop yet not stray too far from the original look as I want the photos to represent what the guests remember seeing. Here’s a sample .CR2 file if you’d like to play around: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1325705/Conference-Center-Magic-Challenge.CR2 Would love to see what you come up with.
Cheers and thanks again,
Greg S

On 16 May 2006, Flickr updated its services from beta to “gamma”, along with a design and structural overhaul. According to the site’s FAQ, the term “gamma”, rarely used in software development, is intended to be tongue-in-cheek to indicate that the service is always being tested by its users, and is in a state of perpetual improvement.^`

I just discovered lihtorogm a few months ago, and so far it’s the bee’s knee’s . now if only I could get my greasy little claws on the TRA lihtorogm presets it would be the cat’s meow!
Hey Matt, please update your autocorrect presets for LR 4. If payment is needed – ok!
I’ve been dying for a preset that mimics Kubota’s “Fuji Snapit” action. It might be outside the scope of a Lightroom preset, but it’s the single best “make a picture look awesome” tool I’ve ever seen,
the above link from ‘pear” downloads EXE files ???
Hey, I’ve Found cool Free Lightroom Preset Download Site

This isn’t really a preset but I would love to see the folder structure you use for your presets. It is possible to catch glimpses of your preset folder structure in some of your videos but it would be good to have an in-depth look as managing a large number of presets can be a bit confusing – particularly given the change in process versions. There is no right or wrong here but always interesting to see how other people manage it.
Thanks.
Vintage faded film with a lomo cross processed feel… Thanks!
print presets
also ,I guess more of a question in book mod any way to rotate the pgs that now come w LR? pretty useless/very limited. I so wish print mod and book mod could be combined……
thanks for all you continue to do for LR!!!!
There’s lots of potential still to be seen from LR presets, in addition to gradual filters, maybe you could invent something awesome using adjustment brush presets.
See these two links for inspiration, I know its a bit technical to create those, because it’s not really supported in the UI, but its not really complicated to create it from XMP either.

Truth be told: LR 4 was kind of disappointing for me when I learned that some of your presets are broken.
How about just updating more of your existing presets so that they work with Lightroom 4.
I shoot many car events, such as racing ,lawn events, and formal shows. Outside of using a polarized to cut back relections, I’d love something to apply to make the car pop from the background. Love the sports preset from last month. Used those on some pics I took at a NE Patriots game, looked great!
Hi Matt,
I’m busy thinking up something for presets and love all of yours … but today I am having an issue in lightroom that you may want to bring up at the seminar to see if anyone else has this issue.
It’s to do with the ( Publishing to ) section and this question is to do with uploading to Flickr.
Now, I have no problem uploading to Flickr using Lightroom … my problem is that Lightroom 4 is adding a whole mess of photos to be Deleted from Flickr in a section below my (To Be Published) images.
I don’t want to delete any photos from Flickr especially when I have not opted to myself.
How do I remove this OPTION … the selection of photos from the list that it says it wants to delete for me. I didn’t put it there. And while looking at the list of photos ready for deletion from Flickr, IF I right click and select “Remove from Collection” … nothing happens.
This happened before. I uploaded the few photos I had ready for Flickr and then it automatically started deleting a bunch that IT had put into this section for Deletion. What is up with this?
Is it a glitch? or is it something I have checked off somewhere in the settings unknowingly?
I don’t want to delete all the photos it is telling me that are ready to be deleted because they all have comments and groups associated with them.
When Lightroom takes one out of Flickr, it starts problems with Flickr’s Explore if any were in it then you can’t get them back into it because the image address changes once you have to republish.
HELP please!!
Thanks so much for all your LR Awesomeness … much appreciated.
Have an awesome seminar … Wish I was there.
Cheers,
Joy
Not quite a preset, but could you create an index to presets, or at least categorize them by module (develop, print, etc).
As for a preset, I’d like to have presets for my papers. Let the preset set size, type, profile and other settings. Then I could just click on ExFiber-8×10 or something like that and I’m good to go. That way I don’t forget to set things like sharpen for print and so on.
I looked at the presets and didn’t see a presets for graduated filter. Can you show us some good uses of this tool?

Please release a LR4 compatible version of your great “adjust everything” presets.
Hey Matt, I would love a preset that would make a bird or animal pop in a photograph. I have seen some ordinary photographs processed by others that make the subject bird really jump out with separation from the background. Although I watch all the new courses on Kelby Training, I still have trouble making this happen. I shoot side by side with other photographers and use the same equipment, fstop, shutter speeds, etc as they do but they leave me in the dust with their processing skills. Any help would be appreciated.
By the way, I watch and re-watch your LR courses on Kelby Training and really appreciate your ability to clearly and simply demonstrate processing techniques. My elderly mind can clearly understand.

Would like presets for each major color by itself. As an example you have a wedding photo of bride holding a bouqet of red roses. Everything would be black and white except the red roses or anything else I suppose that is red. If you need to you could use the adjustment brush to desaturate anything that is red that you don’t want red.
My all time favorite still is: Matt’s Surreal Edgy Effect.
Would love to see a LR4 version of that one :).
I would love to see new version of Cutting Edge !! 😉
