Tips – 10 Things You Need to Know About Compositing

Graphics.com posted a list of “10 Things You Need to Know About Compositing”. It’s taken from a small section of my latest Photoshop Compositing Secrets book, where I wanted to include some tips and tricks for compositing that just didn’t seem to fit into a regular tutorial. Here’s the link if you want to check it out.

I got this book free with my NAPP membership.
    Wow am I impressed!
This book is very visual with plenty of screenshots, before/afters and even shows lighting setups! It has great step-by-step tutorials that easy to follow along.
Just what I needed! Now I just need to carve out time to read the whole thing!
    Thanks Matt!

    Hi Matt,
I would agree with you on the Nik Color Efex Pro Complete. I find myself going more selective these days vs. global. Use it quite a bit. Curious do you use it globally or selective with the brush?

    HI Matt

First great book and is helping me to elevate my game. However I still have nothing but issues with Refine Edge, and frankly I dont like Topaz Remask all that much either. Some of your tips have helped but selections are still a pain cave for me.

Thanks for picking up the book. I get pretty good results from Refine Edge. When I don’t, I pretty much showed you how I clean it up after the fact. Selections are tricky. There’s no magic bullet but when you have 4-5 tricks, one of them usually works. Thx!
