Free Deal Alert! onOne Perfect Effects 8

Okay, I just got the go-ahead from my friends over at onOne Software to post this publicly. I’m always mentioning how I use their new Perfect Photo Suite 8 plug-ins (specifically the Dynamic Contrast presets in Perfect Effects 8) for all of my landscape and outdoor photos. Well, they’re giving Perfect Effects 8 away for free until tomorrow, January 28th. It’s usually $99 and you can download the full version for free. Yep, everything. No trials, no expiration, no stripped down presets or anything like that – the full freakin’ version.

Here’s the link and tell ’em Matt sent you (not really on the 2nd part) 😉

Hats off to onOne for, well, giving away free stuff (oh, and for making a really cool plug-in too). Have a good one!

Thanks so much for the tip. The link still works but know I need extra 4 GB RAM or a new computer LOL… Anyway Windows is giving me so many problems lately that I’m almost taking the decision of getting a Mac.

Thanks for the tip, Matt! Was still able to download it for free today! By the way, thanks for the LR tips, really helping me out.

The downloaded software is a very useful stand alone product. However, OnOne has a suite of software with additional capabilities beyond Perfect Effects.

I was able to load and install the software. Matt is absolutely right about the Dynamic Contrast filter. When I get my current cash flow issues straightened out I will upgrade my entire Perfect Suite to version 8.

He is talking about “Perfect Photo Suite” (PPS), which is the combination of several “Perfect” products. “Perfect Effects 8” (PE8) is only one of them, along with Perfect Black & White, Perfect Portrait etc.
Look at the bottom to see the whole enchilada: http://www.ononesoftware.com/products/suite8/

If you have an older PPS (with an older PE version) then you will have to “update” (upgrade) the whole suite to the newest version to integrate PE8 into the workflow to get the whole benefit. In this case you pay the regular suite price (If you are clever: Subscribe to their newsletter to wait for special offers!).

In other words: You get Perfect Effects 8 for free now and you can use it on its own as long as want but you will pay for it later when you buy the whole suite…

        Bob,
Just downloaded it, too; however, there are two files that downloaded: Perfect_Effects_4.0.4_Free.exe and Perfect_Effects_8.1.0_PE.exe. Do you know what the deal is here? Is the 8.1.0 a new version or a part II of the 4.0 version?

And thanks so much, Bob for clueing me in on the deal still being available!

I’m taking the spare bedroom away. I understand the business of promotions. Athletes started it wearing products they endorse so it was just a matter of time before photographers with web sites and a nice following followed suit. I assume you and Kelby are now shooting Canon because you got their latest and greatest without shelling out eight or ten thousand dollars and I assume a similar deal involves the folks at onOne although – to be fair – I unerstand the beauty of their dynamic contrast filter and the way their portrait applications work.
Here’s the rub. The “free software” is little more than free stuff I got from other sites a few months ago and it does NOT include some of the features that you KINDA SUGGEST in your opening paragraph:
“how I use their new Perfect Photo Suite 8 plug-ins (specifically the Dynamic Contrast presets in Perfect Effects 8) for all of my landscape and outdoor photos. Well, they’re giving Perfect Effects 8 away for free until tomorrow, January 28th.”
One might naturally expect a bit more than he got after reading that but Perfect Effects 8 and Perfect Photo Suite 8 are NOT the same, are they? Listen, I got it for free, I understand. But now I find myself a little frustrated and actually considering the purchase of the onOne software you are endorsing – which bothers me a bit. Is this the old “bait and switch”?
Endorse whatever you want, grab all the free stuff you can, just disclose it as a way of coming clean with the people who take you so seriously.

Well I for one would like to say Thank You Matt and OnOne for Perfect Effects 8, not to mention the wealth of helpful information you already provide Matt. The whole process to download, install and start using has been easy and without a hitch and the difference PE8 has made to my recent travel images has been hugely satisfying right from the start. Naturally I am still learning and refining my use but, after some initial experimenting, I was able to edit some 1,014 images quite quickly. Some images only required subtle touches and some benefitted from multiple (layers) effects. Soft, hazy landscape images now reveal some excellent detail without any obvious artifacts and almost every shot has been significantly improved. And the cost? ZERO. That’s a pretty Happy New Year. Thanks again. PB

Hey Matt thanks for the heads up and to onOne for the free PE8. Downloaded yesterday, all went well and now on the learning curve. I’m really enjoying your daily lightroom tips….well done.

    All the best.

I figured out how to install so you can disregard my last question. Thank you so much for this link! Excited to try it out!

Hi Matt, I was so excited when I got the email from OnOne yesterday, and today I was able to forward your link to my photo friends too (my email said not to share so I didn’t). Anyway… I asked this question on OnOne’s new community but no one answered so I thought I’d see if you could point me in the right direction. I’ve searched their help but haven’t found an answer.

If you have perfect photo suite 7, but perfect effects 8, is there a way to make 8 show in the suite, instead of 7, with 8 being separate?

Still enjoying your project. I’ve found the learn LR4 book I won from WWPW12 and after seeing your comments on what you do I’ve been going thru it. I’ve been using luminance and sharpening/detail/masking all wrong, but it was your comments on here that drove me to figure it out.

Hi Kim. Many thanks for the kind words 🙂 Glad I’m able to help out.
As for making PE8 show up in Suite 7, I don’t think so. They’re pretty separate and I wouldn’t think you could combine the two.
      Hope that helps. Thanks!

Matt – you rock!! as always 😉 Really enjoying your Lightroom only month!
BTW was able to download without any server problems now…

Just tried again and it went through this time. Thanks Matt and OnOne! I look forward to trying it out and comparing/complementing with Nik’s suite. 🙂

I have successfully downloaded the software, solved a problem with previous onOne stuff that was on my computer, installed said software and have it available in both Photoshop and Lightroom.

“Thank You” doesn’t seem like enough so if you ever need a place to stay the spare bedroom is yours for the asking.

any chance this will be extended by a day? i’m getting my new computer tomorrow and would want to download it onto that system!!!!

    • Matt K 27 January, 2014 at 16:14 Reply

I think it goes thru tomorrow Nicole. You could always download it and save it to an external drive and put it on your new computer. The download isn’t linked to your specific computer. Good luck!

Thanks so much guys, this is awesome!!!
Download worked just fine, just needed 2 or 3 attempts which should not be surprising anyone…

It seems like they are up again. I had a successful download and registration. Thanks to Matt and off course OnOne. Will be interesting to actually try some of the things you constantly mention 🙂

  16. John Wilkinson 27 January, 2014 at 14:13 Reply

I was able to download the file just a moment ago.

To try to deal with the “sorry … you’ve already requested your free copy” error, I deleted all the site cookies. I don’t know for sure whether this was what allowed me to get past the error, or whether it was just a problem with the site itself.

I am getting the same message stating that I have already requested the download. I tried numerous times but was unsuccessful each time. Too good to be true?

  18. John Wilkinson 27 January, 2014 at 13:07 Reply

I finally got to the download page, but it thinks I already downloaded the program: “We’re sorry, you have already requested your free copy of Perfect Effects 8.”

    No, I haven’t.

  19. Thomas K. Nielsen 27 January, 2014 at 13:05 Reply

I just get this “We’re sorry, you have already requested your free copy of Perfect Effects 8”, but I did not. Sure I tried, but only resulting in timeouts.
