Learning Lightroom With Me In Sacramento

I’ll be heading to Sacramento later this week for my 1-day Lightroom seminar for Kelby Training. We’ve got over 300 people already signed up for the seminar and it’s growing so make sure you grab a seat soon if you can make it. I’m excited to show my new import strategy again, which has been a big hit since I started showing it. Importing is always such a gray area for anyone just starting out, that I’m...

Lightroom 5.3 Release Candidate Available

Adobe Labs just announced that the Lightroom 5.3 Release Candidate is out. The biggest thing you’ll find in this “dot” release is support for some new cameras (especially Sony’s A7’s and the new Nikon cameras). There’s a few bug fixes too, but none were anything that I ran into. I personally don’t usually install release candidate versions of the software, but if you’ve got one of those...

Importing is always such a gray area for anyone just starting out, that I’m happy I found a different way to teach it and hopefully make it easier for everyone. Anyway, here’s the website to sign up and see the...

Video – Retouching Tips in Lightroom

When Lightroom 5 came out, they made it so the Spot Removal tool was actually a brush. Before LR5, it was simply just a circle. All you could do was tiny remove spots (and maybe some larger spots if you were creative). But in LR5, now you can brush just like you could with any other brush, and it makes for a great retouching tool. But there’s 2 key tips that help out a lot in making it a better tool for retouching. Let’s...

Behind the Scenes: New York City Long Exposure

I’m in New York this week for the annual PDN PhotoPlus Conference and brought my camera along in case I got the chance to shoot. Well, if you didn’t know already, I’m a sucker for a good long exposure scene. For me, anything with a strong (and not moving) foreground and a cool background, along with some moving water, makes a great long exposure photo. Finding a Location After doing some research on 500px.com, I...
