TIP: Saving Prints and an Awesome Printing Deal for This Weekend

Hey everyone and Happy Friday! My friends over at Mpix.com have an incredible 20% off (site wide) deal this weekend (see bottom of post for more details) and I thought I’d pass along a cool printing tip that goes along with Lightroom if you’re printing from a Photo Lab. See, the Print module in Lightroom is by far one of the easiest places to lay out a print. The layers, and masks, etc… that you’d need in Photoshop would take much longer than doing it in Lightroom. In Lightroom it’s basically drag-and-drop.

But the question always pops up after people see this: What if I’m not printing myself, but sending off to a photo lab instead? No sweat. In the bottom right of the Print module in Lightroom is the Print Job panel. By default the top option Print To, usually says Printer. But you can change it to JPEG File which means you can save the print you’ve laid out as a JPEG and send it off to get printed.

Pretty cool if you still want to use Lightroom for your prints, but aren’t printing yourself. Okay, here’s the details for the Mpix.com deal I mentioned earlier.

First head over to Mpix.com and upload your photos on October 4th and 5th ONLY. Place your order on those two days and you’ll get 20% off sitewide with promo code kelbympix2014.

Note: When checking out with multiple orders the promo code will only apply to one order. Cannot be combined with other offers. Not valid through ROES and does not apply to orders placed prior to the sale. Offer ends October 5th, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. (Central).
