Lightroom Video: Customizing Your Presets

This week’s Lightroom video, once again, comes directly from questions I get from all of you blog readers. One I’ve been getting a lot lately is how to customize presets. Some one asked if I could remove the Vignette setting from one of my presets, and send them a new version. I wish I had the time to customize them for everyone, but unfortunately I don’t. But the cool thing about presets is that you can do it really easily yourself. You’ve got a couple different options for creating your own custom version, or modifying mine. And I cover both of them in the video below. Enjoy!

  1. Hi Matt,

I was aware that I could change a preset, but I wasn’t aware I could right click and update the existing one … better yet I discovered (after watching this) that I can rename my update so I don’t mess up the original! How cool is that! Thanks for getting me to investigate a little further!

  2. Hello Matt, Excellent as always. Thanks very much! I was wondering, with all these presets you create and then give away free gratis and for nothing, do you ever come up with a preset that is so marvelous that you think, ‘no, they’re not having that one! That’s just for me!’? Not asking you about the preset itself of course. A simple yes or no will suffice!

  3. Matt, I can’t download presets from this site tonight. I was able to download some from your other blog, but not here. Thanks for all you do and share for the photo community.

  4. Hi

I watched this on the train to work this morning. An idea struck me, instead of looking through all the settings to see what you have changed cant you just open the dialog to update with current settings, take a note on where the checkboxes are checked and use that to create your own preset with your changes?
