Workshop – Shooting Fall Color in the Northeast

Bill Fortney and I are co-teaching a “Fall Color” landscape workshop in the northeast from Oct 9-15. It was sold out but I just heard from him that about 3-4 spots opened up from some people that couldn’t make it. We’ll be shooting in Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, New Hampshire and Vermont over the course of the week. Plus, we’ll have lots of classroom time to cover Lightroom, Photoshop and photo critiques. It’s a great chance to sharpen your photo skills and get some awesome photos while you’re at it. Just head over to Bill’s website (which is worth the visit anyway just to see his photos) and hit the Contact button to get a hold of him and snag a spot. Hope to see you there.

  1. Strange you should be speaking of fall, or autumn, colour (don’t let anyone from the UK tell you it was autumn and you lot changed it. Apparently, when the pilgrim fathers left British shores it was fall. Then, in the succeeding 200 years or so, it was us here who began following the French and adopted the word autumn). Anyway, we’ve been having some most unusually fine weather over here. Honestly, it’s never this warm so late in September, particularly in the north of England. Anyway, yesterday I was up early and got these pics in the local park. I know what you’re thinking: if you’ve got this much to say, why don’t you have your own blog? I won’t do it again. Promise. Unless …

  2. I wish I had known about this a few months ago. As it happens, I’m heading to a workshop in Bryce and Zion at the end of the month, so doing two is not possible. I had the GAPW workshops bookmarked for a while with the intent of going on one with you and either Bill or the Silvermans, but scheduling didn’t work out. Then this summer I tried to find where you’d be doing one this fall but Google failed me.

I’ve added Bill’s site to my RSS feed, so perhaps I’ll find out about one long enough in advance to make plans. Meantime, enjoy New England. Your timing seems about perfect — I live in NorthEastern PA and a few trees are just beginning to show color.

  3. Right in my backyard, Matt! I wish I could go. If I didn’t have to work, I would be all over this! Hope you have great weather! Be sure to post some of your work when you return. :)

  4. Hey Matt,

You and Bill have a Great time! I would love to join you guys, but we were just there last year at this time. In fact, I have the same photo as you have posted for this blog post! How’s that for coincidence. I would love to get some coaching from you two, but I’ll have to pick a different time a place! If you get a chance, head over “Whitchers Falls in Dover and Wolfeboro Lake.

Have a Great time! Can’t wait to see some of your photos!

    Dennis
