There’s a new preset post below this one but I wanted to give you a quick update. Lightroom 2.5 update is out (and Camera Raw 5.5). Its mainly a camera update (D3000 and D300s) but there’s some other very minor stuff as well. Check out Lightroom Product Manager Tom Hogarty’s blog for more details and visit the link below to download the updates.

  • Are you see weird things on this release? Especially in the Print panel: “Profile” has become “Prole” with its missing letters and all the new drop down panels that I’ve checked so far have letters stacking up on one another so they look like strange characters. I tweeted a screenshot: https://twitter.com/lakeeffects

  • Thanks for the note on new version (ACR and LR 2.5) – loaded and working fine on Vista-64. !

  • updated but the print module no longer opens up, it says an error occurred
    any killer tip on this?
    reinstallation didn’t work

  • Hey, is it just me that thinks it’s silly to increase the Lightroom version number each and every time a new camera model is implemented? Normally when designing a program that relies heavily on updates I would have my version number, and just periodically let people download new definition files. As, for example, an antivirus program does, letting version numbering only increase when there has been a major update of functionality or suchlike!

    Any thoughts on this?

  • Wouldn’t it be better to let a user specify what camera(s) he wants to enable for his version? It seems that to have an input definition for every camera in the world sitting in your machine when you only need one is pretty great overhead. I am not sure, naturally, how layout specific the code actually is, but companies generally try to not imbed exceptions within the general program.

  • Thanks man, but when I open LR I get an error and it shuts down – Windows XP. Reloaded program, same result. Adobe has a huge bug. I can’t access LR!

  • I was able to install the update without any problems – Vista 64-bit – and have been using it for several hours since installing the update so am confident everything is ok.

I do agree with others above though that it seems over-the-top to be issuing an update that is more than 100MB for such trival fixes.

  • LR HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH AN UPDATE BEFORE 1.3 I BELIEVE.

THE ADDRESSED THE ISSUE AND RELEASED A VERSION AFTER THAT 1.3.1 THAT ALLOWED US TO GO BACK TO 1.2 IN A WAY. IM SURE THEY WILL DO THAT AGAIN IF THERE IS ENOUGH ISSUES.
OTHER ISSUES I HAVE READ ABOUT ARE CLIPPING LINES THAT ARE REDERED IN THE PROCESSED IMAGES IN THE HIGHLIGHTS
( THAT WAS NOTED ON ADOBE’S USER FORUM ON ADOBE.COM)
THATS WHY I WAIT A BIT TO UPDATE AND LET EVERYONE ELSE BE THE GUENIE PIGS. IT AINT BROKE, I DONT USE THE CAMERAS IN THE UPDATE AND THERE WAS NO BIG CHANGES.. SO I DONT FIX IT.

  • LR 2.5 is more then just new camera profiles. I know one bug they fixed. In 2.4 if you turned off the option to load lightroom when you insert a memory card the setting didn’t work. So everytime I plugged my iPod in Lightroom opened up.

  • Hey Matt, tried three times, got them om ok, but will not apply…the ones the I have designed work fine…I followed your 4 instructions to the T, like I said three times, Just won’t work..Sorry….

Oh, I even tried the Lightroom presets…they work perfect…one this does come to mind…if I clicked in the Lightroom Presets I don’t get the Import signal….But in the User Presets I do get the Import command…Hope there is a fix for it….thanks, Frank

  • LR 2.5 finally recognizes Sony lenses. This isn’t documented anyplace I’ve seen but the lens info is there now and it wasn’t under 2.4 or before. Better late than never!

  • Could someone try the Adjustment Brush and see if they’ve finally made it less of a cpu hog?

  • I upgraded LR 2.5 yesterday on my Vista 64-bit version. Now I can’t upload my Nikon nef (raw) files as Windows no longer seems to accept LR as one of the programs you can choose as a default program to open and upload your raw images. I’ve trawled through searches for this and got no joy. Looks like I’m heading back to Capture NX…

  • I installed the update on my vista 64bit. Now I can’t export images without an error each time. :-( anyone else seeing this?

  • Upgraded to 2.5 some time ago – now doing an “import from catalog” results in hours of lightroom swapping RAM trying to check for dupes, since it’s maxed out the 3.5GB allotted. Anyone else seeing memory leaks?

  • Brush Lag and ACR versions.

For brush lag in Lightroom check out this article.
Seems to have worked for my NVidia card.
    http://lightroom-news.com/2008/09/02/nvidia-settings-to-speed-the-brush-tool-on- xp/

Updating Lightroom with a newer version of ACR has left Photoshop CS3 ACR behind, CS4 can only update to newer ACR.

Does anybody know whether this is an issue or not?
